This self-adhesive sun protection film in Silver Dark is applied to the outside of the window and reflects most of the solar radiation before it reaches the glass. This keeps the heat outside and noticeably lowers the room temperature. The dark tint is particularly suitable for rooms with heavy sun exposure where a high level of heat protection is required. The film is compatible with almost all common glazing types – including roof windows and angled glazing.
Features at a Glance
- 90% less solar radiation – heat is reflected before it reaches the glass
- 16% light transmission – significantly darkens the room, ideal for intense sunlight
- 84% less glare – comfortable screen work without distracting light reflections
- Strong mirror effect – reliable privacy protection from outside during daylight
- Self-adhesive – easy installation without specialist knowledge
- Durable surface – long-lasting and easy to clean
Mirror Effect
The dark silver coating creates a pronounced mirror effect on the exterior surface during daylight. From outside, you see the reflection of the surroundings instead of the interior – reliable privacy protection for offices, practices and living spaces. From inside, you can look out freely, only slightly tinted. The facade gains a modern, uniform appearance.
Note: The mirror effect always works on the side with the stronger light. In darkness with interior lighting switched on, the effect is reversed.
Why Exterior Mounting?
With exterior mounting, the solar radiation hits the film first – and is largely reflected before it even reaches the glass. This has two advantages:
- Better heat protection than interior films, as the heat never enters the glass in the first place
- No risk of thermal stress – the glass pane is not additionally heated
Suitable Glazing Types
This film can be mounted on virtually any glass surface:
- Single glazing – clear and tinted
- Double glazing – clear and tinted
- Low-E glass with low-emissivity coating
- Laminated safety glass (LSG)
- Roof windows & angled glazing – vertical and angled surfaces
Important: The film is not suitable for partial surface application – it should always cover the entire glass surface.
Installation
The film is applied from the outside onto clean, smooth glass. Thanks to the self-adhesive backing, installation is completed in just a few steps – instructions and an installation kit are included.
Warranty
- 10 years when applied to vertical surfaces
- 7 years when applied to angled surfaces (roof windows)
Other Tint Levels
This film is available in three tint levels for exterior mounting:
Would you prefer to apply the film from the inside? The Sun Protection Film Silver Dark – Interior offers the same colour for interior mounting.

Warnings and safety information
- Do not apply interior films to insulating glass or thermal insulation glass. There is a risk of thermal glass breakage. Check the type of glass before installation and ask us if you are unsure.
- Keep film, backing paper and packaging away from babies and small children. If they cover the airways, there is a risk of suffocation.
- Cutting the film involves utility knives and sharp blades. There is a risk of injury, keep tools out of the reach of children.
- Installing film on exterior surfaces or at height involves a risk of falling. Work from a secure footing or hire a specialist company. For roof windows we generally recommend installation by a specialist company.
