Privacy screen and frosted glass

Many rooms, whether it’s therapy centres or medical practices, swimming pools or sports facilities, private homes, terraces or offices, require or deserve privacy protection due to their exposed location or special use in order to protect patients, athletes or residents from prying eyes.

Frosted glass offers a solution for this: due to its particular texture, it refracts daylight and only allows the human eye to perceive things to a limited extent. Replacing regular window panes with frosted glass, however, is rather expensive and time-consuming. It also means that the entire window pane has to be replaced again when the privacy screen is no longer needed.

The alternative: High-quality privacy film

High-quality, self-adhesive frosted glass films - custom-fit or cut by the metre - are the low-priced alternative to frosted glass panes. They are easy to apply, durable and easy to maintain even without prior skills - while maintaining their utility value. Like frosted glass, frosted glass films provide privacy but hardly reduce the incidence of light, as daylight almost completely diffuses into the room. Additional artificial light is not necessary.

Efficiency:

Frosted glass film provides privacy by day and night. If a room is illuminated in the dark, people and furniture in the interior can no longer be seen from the outside. Frosted glass film is therefore suitable not only as a tasteful and harmonious decorative element for your glass surfaces, but also as an excellent protection of your privacy in sensitive rooms, especially bathrooms.

One more plus:
Frosted glass films can be removed with little effort without leaving any residue. Consequently, if there is no need for privacy protection in a room, there is no need to replace window panes as is the case with frosted glass panes. Investing little time to remove the film is all it takes.

Important:

frosted glass films are available in very different qualities. We will be happy to send you a sample of our excellent offers in order to convince you of the high quality of our films. Request film samples here - free of charge and without obligation.

More than just privacy: frosted glass film as glare protection or decorative element

Opaque glass film diffuses light and filters out UV rays. It is therefore not only suitable as a privacy screen. Especially in conservatories or in rooms with glass roofs and/or ceiling windows, frosted glass film also provides glare protection. Disturbing glare effects are reduced, while fading of furniture and home textiles is reduced. The use of weather-resistant frosted glass film for outdoor areas is recommended if glass roofs or balconies have glass fronts.

Beyond that a frosted glass film can be used as an aesthetic decorative element. For instance, it is possible to cover windows only partially. Film stripes, for example, in various widths are often used as a visual way of varying the appearance of glass doors and windows in conference rooms or offices while at the same time providing privacy. Furniture glazing on showcases, glass counters or glass tables can also be redesigned or optically enhanced with frosted glass film. Creative ideas are almost limitless here. Nearly every flat glass surface can be completely or partially covered with frosted glass film.

Precisely cut to size or by the metre?

Custom-fit frosted glass films can be easily and quickly attached without prior experience. We provide cut-to-size sheets exactly to your specifications so that you can save a lot of time and effort. For untrained hands in particular, we should always have your films professionally cut beforehand in order to avoid unclean cut edges. The film cuts are suitable for many individual areas of application: small and large window areas, furniture glazing, glass inserts in doors, glass table tops and many more. The film cuts are especially useful for design elements for creative patterns, with geometric shapes such as rectangles or stripes.

If you have some experience with window films or would like to glue very large glass surfaces, then films by the meter are your best choice. They are attached like wallpapers in sheets. Adjustment of the frosted glass film takes place by cutting directly at the pane.

Frequently asked questions about window films:

How effective is frosted glass film as a privacy screen in different light conditions?

The milk glass film offers reliable privacy protection that is independent of the light conditions. Even in darkness or poor lighting conditions, people and objects inside can no longer be seen from outside.

This makes frosted glass film an ideal solution for privacy protection in sensitive rooms such as bathrooms. Furthermore, it can also be used as a decorative element to create an aesthetic and harmonious atmosphere.

Can the frosted glass film also be applied to the window pane from the outside?

Yes, there is a special frosted glass film for exterior application which was specially developed for this purpose. Unlike conventional frosted glass films, this one may be installed from the outside, as it has a special hard-coat coating that protects the film from the effects of wind and weather.

How long is the durability of the frosted glass film?

Our high-quality frosted glass films offer excellent durability. The guarantee period for the frosted glass film for outdoor installation is 4 years for horizontal and 7 years for vertical application. The guarantee period for the frosted glass film for interior installation is even 10 years. So you can be sure that the film will provide optimum protection and aesthetics for a long time.

Is the frosted glass film also available in other colours?

Choose the right film from various shades: in addition to the classic matt white frosted glass film, we offer this film type in matt bronze, silver and grey for interior application.

Can only part of the glass pane be pasted or does the entire pane always have to be pasted?

The classic frosted glass film can be applied as desired and desired also only partially, in strips or blocks on the glass pane. Only the coloured frosted glass films matt bronze, silver and grey must be applied over the entire surface (partial application may result in glass breakage).

How is frosted glass film cut to size?

The frosted glass film is cut to millimetre accuracy using a modern industrial plotter. This plotter uses the latest technology to ensure that the film is cut exactly to the dimensions you specify. This eliminates the need to cut the film at the window and makes installation easier.

With accurate results and quick and easy installation, you can be sure that the film will fit perfectly and can be applied quickly. All you have to do is enter your measurements and you will receive a perfectly cut film that fits your windows exactly. So you can be sure of a first-class result and protect your windows quickly and easily.

Are there any special care instructions for frosted glass films?

Frosted glass foils require hardly any care and are extremely easy to clean. For cleaning, it is recommended to use a mild cleaner and a soft cloth. Sharp cleaning agents and abrasive sponges should be avoided as they can damage the film.

How do you stick frosted glass film?

The application of frosted glass films is simple and uncomplicated thanks to their self-adhesive backing.

First of all, the pane to be affixed must be thoroughly cleaned and degreased. Then peel off the backing film on the reverse side and position the frosted glass film carefully and without creasing on the glass surface. Using the squeegee supplied free of charge, the film is now carefully smoothed from the centre outwards to avoid air bubbles and wrinkles. After application, the film should be allowed to dry for a few hours and not be subjected to any load so that it can adhere optimally.
