Security Window Film for Windows

Security Window Film for Windows

Security window films make glass more resistant to break-ins, vandalism and accidents. The transparent films are applied to the glass surface and hold it together when it breaks. Depending on the film thickness, the result is either shatter-binding or anti-intrusion glass.

Anti-Intrusion

Anti-Intrusion Film P2A

The anti-intrusion security film with 300µm thickness makes standard glass resistant to penetration, rated P2A. Burglars may damage the glass but cannot break through it. The film is virtually invisible with 92% light transmission and is suitable for all glass types.

  • Anti-intrusion rated P2A (EN 356)
  • 92% light transmission, virtually invisible
  • 10-year warranty, suitable for all glass types

Safety Film for Exterior Use

The exterior version is designed for glazing that cannot be reached from inside: shop windows, glass facades and roof windows. The film is applied to the outside of the glass and provides the same shatter protection as the interior version.

  • Can be fitted without entering the building
  • Suitable for shop windows, glass facades and roof windows
  • 93% light transmission, weather-resistant

Which Security Film for Which Application?

The right film depends on the level of protection required and the location.

Burglar Protection for Your Home

Basement windows, patio doors and ground-floor windows are typical break-in targets. The anti-intrusion film P2A makes these panes resistant to penetration. Burglars need considerably more time, which significantly increases the risk of being detected.

Recommended: Anti-Intrusion Film 300µm P2A

Schools and Public Buildings

In schools, nurseries and sports halls, there is a risk of injury from broken glass caused by accidents or ball impact. Safety film holds the glass together and prevents splinters from flying across the room.

Recommended: Safety Film 175µm (Enhanced)

Shop Windows and Commercial Premises

Shop windows are vulnerable to vandalism and break-in attempts. The exterior safety film protects the glass from the outside and can be fitted without having to enter the premises.

Recommended: Safety Film 100µm Exterior

Frequently Asked Questions About Security Films

The difference lies in the film thickness and protection level. Safety films (100-175µm) bind glass splinters on impact and protect against injuries. Anti-intrusion film (300µm) goes further: it makes the glass resistant to penetration, rated P2A. This means the pane may crack but cannot be broken through.

Anti-intrusion film P2A makes glass resistant to penetration. A burglar may damage the pane but cannot break through it. This costs time and creates noise, which significantly increases the risk of detection. The film does not replace a security lock but is an effective addition to your existing burglar protection.

Yes, our security films are suitable for all common glass types: single glazing, insulated glass, laminated glass and toughened glass. The transparent film does not change the appearance of the pane and has no effect on the thermal insulation of the window.

No. All our security films are transparent and virtually invisible. Light transmission is 92-93%, so neither the appearance nor the brightness in the room changes noticeably.

The film is applied to the clean glass surface using water and washing-up liquid. For the thicker anti-intrusion film (300µm), we recommend a wooden squeegee for a bubble-free finish. A suitable fitting kit is available in our shop.

P2A is a protection class defined in EN 356. It describes the resistance of glass to penetration. During testing, a 4.11 kg steel ball is dropped three times from a height of 3 metres onto the pane. Glass with P2A film withstands this test without being penetrated.

Yes, security films can generally be removed without residue by warming them with a hairdryer and peeling them off slowly. The thicker the film, the more patience is needed. The process takes a little longer with the 300µm film than with the 100µm version.
